Why AirTags Fail in Remote Areas
AirTag needs nearby Apple devices. Remote areas often do not have them.

How AirTag Actually Works
AirTag broadcasts a Bluetooth signal. Nearby Apple devices can detect that signal and report the location through Apple's Find My network.
That system is powerful in populated areas but weak in forests, fields, mountains, and rural land with few people nearby.

A real GPS tracker receives coordinates from satellites on the tracked object itself. It does not need a stranger's phone nearby to determine location.
